Religious Services, Items & Meal Requests

In addition to talking with you and your family, chaplains are also available to perform various religious rituals on site at NYU Langone. These include prayers, baptism, reciting of sacred texts, and anointing of the sick. Chaplains can also counsel, support, and pray with families and patients at the time of death.

Sacred Texts and Religious Items

Sacred texts are available to patients at NYU Langone. These include Bibles, Jewish prayer books, and Qurans. Other religious items available upon request include Buddhist mala prayer beads, Catholic rosaries, Jewish Sabbath candles, and Zamzam water.

Specialty Foods

If you have religious dietary needs, such as kosher or halal, please inform your nurse.

We also have Bikur Cholim rooms, where kosher meals, snacks, and Shabbat/Shabbos provisions are available. The Bikur Cholim room at Tisch Hospital is located on the first floor behind the Meditation Room. At NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, the Bikur Cholim room is on the 13th floor. At NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, the Bikur Cholim room is on the fourth floor.

At NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, Shabbos provisions are available in the Bikur Cholim Room on the first floor, and the offsite Sabbath House, located in Mineola, can accommodate family members in special circumstances.
